Notch Trail, High Uintas

Backpacking in the High Uintas is a great place to enter into the world of wilderness area. The area has a little for everyone. There are many hiking and backpacking trails for many abilities, lakes and streams to fish, and public campgrounds. The High Uintas are also home to Kings Peak, the highest mountain in Utah with a height of 13,528 ft.
The Notch trail starts at the Bald Mountain overlook, goes around Notch Mountain, up through the and down to Trial Lake. The trail is about 12 miles long and travels through some beautiful wilderness areas.
Access: Take the Mirror Lake Highway east from Kamas. If you are going to Hike from Bald Mountain to Trial Lake leave a car at the fisher men's parking and continue to the Bald Mountain Overlook. Parking is available at the Bald Mountain overlook area.
